PlanetNode offers LIR (Local Internet Registry) sponsoring for eligible entities, allowing you to obtain and manage IP address space and ASN resources.
What is LIR sponsoring?
LIR (Local Internet Registry) sponsoring allows you to:
- Obtain IP address space: Get IP addresses from RIPE NCC
- Obtain ASN: Get an Autonomous System Number if needed
- Manage resources: Manage IP and ASN resources through a sponsoring LIR
Who is eligible?
Almost everyone is eligible for LIR sponsoring at PlanetNode. This includes:
- Individuals: If you have an address within the EU
- Educational institutions: Universities, colleges, and schools
- Research organizations: Research institutions
- Non-profit organizations: Non-profit organizations and foundations
- Commercial organizations: Businesses and companies
- Others: Feel free to contact us to discuss your eligibility
Requirements
To be eligible for LIR sponsoring, you need:
- EU address: An address within the European Union
- IP space: IPv6 address space (minimum requirement)
- You can bring your own IPv6 space, or
- We can provide IPv6 address space as part of the sponsorship
- Legitimate use case: A legitimate need for IP resources
IPv6 Space Available
If you don't have IPv6 space yet, we can offer IPv6 address space as part of the LIR sponsoring service. IPv6 is the minimum requirement for eligibility.

LIR Sponsoring
LIR sponsoring is subject to RIPE NCC policies and requirements. Almost everyone is eligible - even individuals with an EU address and IPv6 space (or our IPv6 space) can qualify.
