Can I install Windows on my VPS?

Yes! Windows Server can be installed on a VPS on request. Read here how.

Windows Server is available for VPS packages at PlanetNode. Because this is available on request, the installation process is slightly different than with Linux distributions.

How do I request Windows?

  1. Log in to my.planetnode.net
  2. Create a support ticket
  3. Indicate in your ticket that you want to install Windows Server on your VPS
  4. Mention which version of Windows Server you want (for example Windows Server 2019 or 2022)
  5. Our team will process your request and install Windows for you

WARNING

Note: Additional costs may apply for Windows Server due to licensing fees. This will be discussed with you in the ticket.

Which versions are available?

We support various versions of Windows Server, including:

  • Windows Server 2019
  • Windows Server 2022
  • Other versions on request

Logging into Windows VPS

After installation, you can log into your Windows VPS via Remote Desktop (RDP):

  1. Open Remote Desktop Connection on your computer (on Windows: search for "mstsc")
  2. Enter the IP address of your VPS (found on my.planetnode.net)
  3. Click "Connect"
  4. Enter your username and password that you received via ticket

TIP

On macOS you can download Microsoft Remote Desktop from the App Store to connect to your Windows VPS.

Why is Windows on request?

Windows Server requires specific licenses and configuration, so we handle this on a per-customer basis. This way we can provide you with the best service and ensure everything is set up correctly.
