How do I start, stop or restart my VPS?

Learn how to start, stop and restart your VPS via the PlanetNode client panel.

You can easily manage your VPS via the PlanetNode client panel. Follow these steps to start, stop or restart your VPS:

Access to VPS management

  1. Log in to my.planetnode.net
  2. Navigate to your VPS service
  3. Here you can see the current status of your VPS and the available actions

Performing actions

Start VPS

If your VPS is turned off, click the Start button. Your VPS will boot within seconds.

Stop VPS

There are two ways to shut down your VPS:

Shutdown (recommended): Click the Shutdown button for a graceful shutdown. The operating system will close all services properly before the VPS shuts down. This is the safest method.

Stop (force): Click the Stop button to immediately shut down your VPS.

WARNING

Note: Using Stop is similar to pulling the power plug. This can cause data loss. Always use Shutdown for a safe shutdown when possible.

Restart VPS

Click the Reboot button to restart your VPS. This is useful after installing updates or when troubleshooting.

TIP

A restart is safer than stopping and starting, because the operating system gets the chance to shut everything down properly.

Check status

On the VPS page you can see the current status of your server:

  • Running - Your VPS is active
  • Stopped - Your VPS is shut down
  • Starting - Your VPS is booting
  • Stopping - Your VPS is shutting down
